Hever Castle in the 1940s

The 1940s was a very eventful era of the 20th century. The first half was dominated by World War II where the country was led by Winston Churchill to victory. The second half was, aside from heavy rationing, quite jolly. How do I know this, may you ask? No, I did not get it from the internet. When I was a child, I interviewed my mother and my grandma about the whole thing. Both died a long time ago but they were quite old for the time.

World War II

There was a double-decker bus which had three rooms: a bomb shelter, a 40s living room and a kitchen. There were also men dressed up as the UK and USA Army (below:)

Eventually, we wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle and decided to head for the lake where we could hire a boat for an hour, which we ended up doing. It was very fun: so fun that we decided to get membership for Hever!

We are probably going to visit a lot. And now you can see why!
